I need to get a job in admin/reception asap as I have just been
laid off. However, all jobs advertised require a min. 3+ years experience
OR formal training. I have less than a years experience (before that I was
working in hospitality), how am I supposed to gain experience if no one will
give me a chance? As for training, I need to be home of a night time due to
family commitments, so night training is out, and I need to work full time
to pay the bills (because lets face it.. centrelink wont give me enough
money to live on), so day training is out. Give us workers a fair go,
PLEASE!

I have been looking for fulltime (preferred) administration office
support work since June last year. (Yes 10 months). With over 20 admin
experience I have only had 3 interviews within that timeframe. I've
probably applied for near 100 positions in the last 5 months since joining
Centrelink Newstart. After countless interviews with agencies who keep
telling me the same thing, the "market is quiet". I plead with companies to
start advertising for more staff. There are people desperate for work.
Please give us a go. |

The firm operating across the road from our office has just shut their doors
and has gone into liquidation. All of their staff are now redundant. One of
the girls had been working their for ten years and now looks like losing all
her accrued entitlements. |
